Hiking in Clare

Water and wilderness are two of the defining words for walks in Clare, an enchanting county on Ireland’s Mid-West coastline. The River Shannon and its magnificent estuary dominate the eastern and southern boundaries whilst the vast Atlantic and Galway Bay take control of the west and north west. 

Hikes throughout Clare are of the breathtaking variety, with immensely rural, wild landscapes both inland and along the rugged coastline. Walking in the Burren region is a huge draw for hikers of every type. This staggering karst region captures you as you explore its unique, rocky terrain. At first glance, the Burren looks relatively bare, but take a closer look, it’s home to a huge amount of rare plant species as well as many mammals.
